Inline preview player

Let fans hear a taster on the page, and understand what that does to your tracking.

What it is#

A player from the service itself, sitting between your artwork and the service buttons. Fans can hear a preview before deciding where to listen. It uses each service's official player, so the length of the preview and what it shows are set by them, not by us.

It is on by default and can be switched off per link in the editor.

The tradeoff worth understanding#

The player is a window into the service's own site. That means anything a fan does inside it belongs to the service, and we cannot see it. If a fan saves the track using the button inside the player, that save happens on Spotify, not on your page, and it will not appear in your stats or reach your ad pixel.

We do record when someone presses play, which shows up as Preview plays on the link's stats. Saves made inside the player cannot be recorded by anyone embedding it.

Leave it on when#

You are introducing an unfamiliar track, sending traffic from somewhere cold, or the release is the kind that sells itself in ten seconds. Hearing it is what converts.

Turn it off when#

You are running paid ads and need every conversion attributed. With the player off, the only route onward is your tracked buttons, so nothing leaks. If a campaign's numbers look lower than the streaming platform suggests they should, this is the first thing to check.

A reasonable default

Player on for organic posts, off for paid campaigns. You can set it per link, so a release can have one of each if you want to compare.
